CBDA is a compound that eventually converts to CBD. While CBD comes from cultivated and cured cannabis plants, CBDa is found in plants that are still growing. CBDA is what is known as an acid precursor to CBD and is only produced when raw cannabis containing CBDA is heated, causing what is known as decarboxylation. The problem with CBDa is that, despite its medical benefits, it hasn't been a feasible treatment because of its instability.
CBD is much more stable than CBDa. It is much easier to extract as a chemical compound and can be easily used in a variety of products. For this reason, making CBD-rich oils seems to be easier than CBDa-rich oils (at least for now). CBDA is the chemical precursor to CBD.
In a process called thermal decarboxylation, CBDA is converted to CBD when the CBDA molecule is heated and loses its acidic carboxyl group. This decarboxylation process can occur instantaneously, such as when cannabis material is ignited and smoked or vaporized, or due to slow degradation over time if plant material is allowed to stand at room temperature. TL; DR: CBDa and CBD are extremely similar at the molecular level and offer several health benefits if you use CBDa oil or CBD oils. Whichever spectrum CBD oil you choose, be sure to review that company's third-party lab results.
CBD has become popular in recent years as an oil with therapeutic properties, and is well thought out because of its usefulness in treating many conditions without psychoactive effects. This important finding could link the use of CBDA to functions such as motor skills, sleep, diet, digestion and emotions. Raphael Mechoulam is known for being the first scientist to synthesize THC and CBD in an extraction process with a raw form of cannabis. CBDA and other acidic forms of cannabinoids are not normally considered pharmacologically active.
It is expected that in the future, CBDa will be available as an authorized drug in the form of tablets and topical applications. In a study led by Richard van Breemen, the findings specify that CBDa (in addition to CBGA) can prevent the virus responsible for COVID-19 from entering human cells. But before this happens, CBDA must first be formed from the mother of all cannabinoids, cannabigerolic acid (CBGA). You can find premium CBD products, such as drops, gummies, or balms for a variety of conditions, such as promoting sleep, giving energy, treating skin conditions, and reducing pain and inflammation.
The health benefits of CBD, along with the ease of extraction (compared to CBDa) make it more in demand in the medical community. Most products on the market were decarboxylated to produce CBD and THC and therefore contain very little CBDa or THCA. Cannabidiolic acid is so unstable that it even transforms into CBD when the plant is left to dry at room temperature. But why would people go out of their way to get a dose of CBDA in the first place? What does the raw CBD precursor offer that CBD itself doesn't? CBDA oil drops can be applied directly to the skin topically or added to your favorite cream or beauty product.
